Testimonials

"I am the Area Manager for several of the Registered Care Homes that Judy gave workshops to, in Caring for People with Dementia and Grief and Bereavement. I have received very positive feed back from the participants that the training was informative, interesting and relevant. Given the diversity of our employees and under equal opportunities, full consideration was given to those for whom English is not a first language. Handouts were prepared and distributed for staff to use as a point of reference at a later date.

Judy was responsive and empathetic when we needed immediate support for staff following the sudden demise of a service user and I would not hesitate to recommend her as a trainer."

End of Life Coaching

For most of us the prospect of dying can be overwhelming and we do whatever we can to avoid thinking about it. However, for the person for whom this is a reality, avoidance is a luxury that they can no longer afford and their focus now shifts to many of the ‘critical things that can have a disproportionately significant impact on whether they have a peaceful death or not.’* The priority for both them and their carers turns to “how can this be achieved?”

Facing the end of our life can provoke essential questions, such as “What have I accomplished in my life?” “Has my life been meaningful?” There may be a need to resolve conflicts, voice unspoken feelings and tie up personal loose ends.

An End of Life Coach is emotionally more objective than loved ones, and Dawn, an associate End of Life Coach with ELM, can listen impartially and non-judgementally while supporting the person in tying up those lose ends, addressing unanswered questions, letting go of regrets, listening to words that can’t be shared with loved ones, shifting perspectives and clarifying priorities.

Alternatively, Dawn can assist the carer of someone at the end of life to focus on their own mental and physical health which can easily be overlooked in the belief that the main focus has to be on the patient.

Dawn will help the carer to bring back some balance to their day, so they are much better able to support their own needs and those of the patient. ‘Supporting someone at the end of their life is one of the kindest and noblest things we can do’* but which can often take a lot out of us both emotionally and physically. With Dawn’s 10 years experience in the field of coaching, a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, a Diploma in Coaching, and training in counselling skills and NLP, combined with her natural empathy, and a very non-judgemental and intuitive style, she is ideally equipped to support patients or carers at such an extremely critical time.
