End of Life

The Essential Guide to Caring

Ciaran Devane, CEO of Macmillan Cancer Support states ‘There is much wisdom in the pages of this book. It offers practical advice in a caring way and it is hard to say any of it is more or less important than the rest. But it is important that those of us who want to improve end of life care understand some of the critical things which can have a disproportionately significant impact on whether someone has a good death, or not.

End of Life the Essential Guide to Caring was Highly Recommended by the British Medical Association and awarded the Runner Up prize for the prestigious British Medical Association Public Understanding of Science Award in 2011.

The Essential Guide to Life After Bereavement

Beyond Tomorrow

The period following the death of a loved one can be a time of great turmoil. This sensitive book acts as a supportive road  map through the initial period of loss and through the weeks and months that follow, addressing not only the emotional and spiritual aspects of bereavement but also the practical considerations that are often overlooked.

The Essential Guide to Bereavement - Beyond Tomorrow was chosen to be on the  2018 Reading Well, Adult Mental Health reading list,  The Reading Well scheme is a national programme that recommend books for libraries and to be recommended by health services.

I think of end of life as having a 'return to sender' ticket that we are all born with and ignore! Instead we might consider approaching it as we would any long journey, by tying up our loose ends, saying goodbye to those we love and making sure that those that still need our love and care will be cared for by others.
